Why did I start this? I started this event because my cousin, Rose Michel, lost both of her legs in the Haiti Earthquake in January 2010. She is now in high school and a very social girl, but it was very difficult for her to run high school track due to IHSAA rules. After a long process she is now able to compete in high school track. I want people who are in her same footsteps to have a place where they can run and feel like a champion. I did some research and found there was no exact event where it would allow physically impaired people to run. That only meant one thing, make one that would. TOGETHER for the Long Run is a track event in which anyone who is going through a similar situation or are intellectually disabled to participate. It allows volunteers and athletes to spend a night in conversation, laughter, and excitement; allowing everyone to go to bed feeling like a champion.
This is my cousin, Rose Michel, and me the day she came home.
